This week the 4Cs hosted an event of celebration and launch of the Young Commissioners Accreditation Programme at the Senedd. The 4Cs manages the All Wales Framework for the Provision of Foster Care Services & the All Wales Framework for the Provision of Residential Care Services to Children and Young People.
Young Commissioners have played an integral part in a number of 4Cs projects since 2017. Their participation ensures the voice of young people is at the heart of their work to support commissioning, good quality care and improved outcomes for all of the children and young people looked after.
Agored Cymru have worked in partnership with the 4Cs and Children in Wales to develop accredited learning modules that formally recognise the contribution of the Young Commissioners. The Young Commissioners Accreditation Programme was formally launched at the event; raising awareness of this inclusive programme and the opportunities for the children looked after to develop their commissioning skills.

- Skills for Commissioning: The Commissioning Process
In a year of anniversaries, 30th year of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and Agored Cymru’s 10th year as an awarding body, Agored Cymru reaffirms its commitment to realising young people’s rights in Wales. Since its beginnings, Agored Cymru has led on the accreditation and qualifications for children’s and young people’s rights in Wales and we will continue to do so through the young commissioners’ accreditation programme, young leaders qualifications and support for the Youth Achievement Awards.
The event was hosted by Vikki Howells; Assembly Member for Cynon, and attended by Minister Julie Morgan; Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services. The National Commissioning Board were also in attendance to support the event.
Young Commissioners attended from all over Wales – it was fantastic to hear directly from them what being a Young Commissioner means and the benefits they experience.
The three modules launched at today’s event can be found here for more information.
